Step 1: Accept the Offer
The first step on your journey with MUSC Health is to accept your offer letter and complete your onboarding form. You may log in via the Employee Portal HERE.
Step 2: Submit your Background Check
This step is time sensitive and may take anywhere from 3-14 days. Please log into your Employee Portal or review your offer email for a link to submit the request.
Step 3: Employee Health Appointment & Clearance
An onboarding specialist will contact you with your Employee Health Appointment based on your required dates.

Step 4: Submit Badge Photo
All new employees are required to submit a badge photo prior to their start date to psaccess@musc.edu. For requirements on submitting your badge photo, please review your employee portal or see guidelines HERE. Employees will receive a badge during their in-person orientation.
Step 5: In-person Orientation & Network Access Instructions
Attend your in-person orientation based on instructions provided via email. To access your new MUSC Health email address and network, you must set up 2-Factor Authentication and follow these instructions.
Step 6: Form I-9
Fond the link to complete your form I-9 in your Employee Portal. Refer to acceptable documents to verify your identity HERE.
Step 7: New Hire Modules and Benefits Selection
You must complete the New Hire Modules assigned to you in Our Day within 7 days of your start date. You must also complete your Benefits Selection within 30 days of your start date. Supplemental information can be found HERE.
Step 8: Change What's Possible with MUSC Health!
Additional onboarding information will be provided to you through your Our Day portal and supervisor.
Orientation
All new employees are required to complete orientation. Your onboarding assistant will provide information regarding the date, time and location. All employees are also required to complete orientation modules within OurDay within 14 days of your start date. You will receive an email from PEBA about benefits soon after your start date. If you are unsure if you are required to attend orientation, complete this form.

Benefits
Please review the New Hire Benefits Presentation (PDF) and the Benefits and Retirement webpages prior to your orientation date. Please review our MUSC University Leave Guidelines (PDF) if you are considering a research grant (non-FTE), temporary or time-limited position.
You will have 30 days from your start date to enroll in your retirement plan and 31 days to enroll in insurance. New hires who start on the first calendar day of the month will have insurance benefits effective the first of the month. New hires who begin work on the first business day of the month can choose to have their insurance start the first day of that month or the first day of the following month. If the employee starts on a day other than the first working or calendar day of the month, their insurance will be effective the first of the next month.
Outside the new hire window, the next opportunity to elect benefits will be Open Enrollment every October. Open Enrollment changes take effect January 1st of the following year.
University Transfers
A transfer is required to keep the same benefits enrolled in with your previous employer when moving to the MUSC plan. One exception to this policy is if you were enrolled in the State Savings Plan with your former employer, you must switch to the MUSC Health plan upon starting employment with MUSC. All other state insurance benefits must remain the same. Should you wish to change benefits, you may do so during Open Enrollment.
If a transfer had Dependent Care Spending and/or a Medical Spending Account with your prior agency, MUSC University Payroll must be notified. Please send an email to your payroll administrator with a screenshot of your year-to-date MSA and or DSA contribution from ASIFlex, or your last paystub from your prior state agency. MUSC University Payroll will then adjust your remaining contribution owed with MUSC.
